North Jersey

Adam’s Bagels

Location: 655 Westwood Ave, River Vale
Details: At Adam’s Bagels, the food is made to order and cooked right behind the counter. In fact, you’ll see them cracking the eggs right in front of you! The menu includes both breakfast and lunch options, and portion sizes are larger than normal (without the price hike).
Why I like it: The smoked salmon with cream cheese, avocado, and cucumbers on a bagel is perfect for brunch.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Bagelwich Bagel Bakery

Location: 652 Bloomfield Ave, Verona
Details: Bagelwich’s Verona location has been in existence since 1982, and remains a local favorite almost 40 years later. But it’s not just bagels here, you can enjoy breakfast burritos, paninis, and subs, too. There’s also a second location in West Caldwell if that’s more convenient for you.
Why I like it: Their signature variety of bagels and spreads, including the bacon and herb cream cheese.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Fresco’s Bagels

Location: 57 NJ-23 South, Pequannock
Details: Fresco’s Bagels are rolled and baked daily, and you can tell! The end results are breakfast sandwiches you’ll go to bed dreaming about. For instance, the bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel is a fan favorite. Another standout is the French toast bagel dusted with powdered sugar.
Why I like it: Friendly staff, delivery service, and lots of options add to the appeal of Fresco’s.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Hamburg Hot Bagels

Location: 90 NJ-23 South, Hamburg
Details: This place gets rave reviews for both its friendly staff and its delicious bagels. Hamburg Hot Bagels handrolls their bagels as well as bialys (Polish rolls) without any preservatives or oils. They offer a variety of cream cheese flavors, such as scallion, olive, and walnut raisin. Don’t forget to ask about their fresh subs and giant bagels (6’, that’s feet not inches).
Why I like it: You’ll find sweet as well as savory here, with blueberry bagels or blueberry sugar topping.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Kinderkamack Hot Bagels

Location: 935 Kinderkamack Rd, River Edge
Details: Kinderkamack Hot Bagels is a true hole-in-the-wall, only visible to those who know where to look. They have barely any presence online or on social media. But what they do have is a long line out the door every morning on weekends. Lifelong customers swear by these bagels, which are always warm and soft. The croissants aren’t bad, either!
Why I like it: They make bagels from scratch in the back, which you can see from the counter!

Muheisen’s Bagel & Deli

Location: 29 NJ-31 South, Washington

Time for a Bagel

Location: 680 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains
Details: Let’s be honest, when isn’t it time for a bagel? At Time for a Bagel, you’ll find hand-rolled, perfectly baked dough. In particular, we like the Everything Flagel, a flat bagel with the classic everything bagel spice on top. However, don’t be afraid to try one of their “Deliciously Different” flavors, such as Sundried Tomato or Black Russian.
Why I like it: Mini plain bagels are always available. But if you call the day before, they’ll make your order of mini bagels in any flavor you choose!
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Central Jersey

The Bagel Club

Bagel Chateau

Location: 223 South Ave East, Westfield
Details: Growing up, Bagel Chateau was where you’d find Westfield High School students (like myself) grabbing breakfast or lunch. My order was boring – Taylor ham on a plain bagel – but it was delicious. The bagels are always soft and doughy, and it remains my personal favorite bagel store in the area. Bagel Chateau also makes their own cream cheese spreads.
Why I like it: My pick for lunch is tuna salad on a toasted everything bagel. It comes with potato chips and a pickle…yum!
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

The Bagel Club

Location: 20 Commerce St, Flemington
Details: Serving up bagels that are big and fresh, The Bagel Club has a legion of devoted fans. You may experience wait times when ordering something from the griddle, but their tasty breakfast sandwiches are worth it. If you’re looking for something a little different, try one of their breakfast options on a jalapeno bagel; it will give your morning a kickstart.
Why I like it: The Bagel Club has the largest selection of spreads in New Jersey; with options such as bacon horseradish, mint chocolate, and more.

Bagel Pantry

Location: 545 Middlesex Ave, Metuchen
Details: Three Palestinian brothers brought Bagel Pantry to life in 1997, and 20+ years later locals still love it. If you ask us, we recommend the bacon cheddar chive or the smoked salmon cream cheese flavors; either way, the Bagel Pantry isn’t stingy with the toppings! You’ll also find two additional locations in South Plainfield and Millburn.
Why I like it: Customers rave about their everything bagel, and they’re not wrong.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Caesar’s Bagels & Deli

Location: 110 Flock Rd, Hamilton

Locals swear by these bagels and nowhere else, but they also serve pretty great sandwiches, too. For breakfast, order the turkey bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on your choice of bagel. Then for lunch, try the hot Italian sausage with roasted peppers.
Why I like it: Not only are the breakfast and lunch options delicious, but the portion sizes are large.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Jersey Shore

Broadway Giant Bagel Company

Bagel Bazaar Deli and Grill

Location: 6101 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township
Details: Yes, this bagel shop is inside a gas station, but don’t let that fool you. Bagel Bazaar is a fast-growing set of bagel shops all in New (primarily central) Jersey. Customers rave about the friendly service and filling breakfast sandwiches, in addition to their many assorted spreads. It also doesn’t hurt that you can fill up your tank on the way to the beach!
Why I like it: Their French toast bagel with maple bacon butter is simply delicious.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Bageleddi’s

Location: 1815 Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom

For something different, try the bagel burger; it’s a cheeseburger and pork roll topped with an over-easy egg on your choice of bagel. It will definitely fill you up.
Why I like it: They serve a colorful rainbow bagel, sure to brighten your day!
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Bagel Masters

Location: 661 Broad St, Shrewsbury

Why I like it: They offer a loyalty program that gets you discounts on future purchases.

Bagel Time Cafe

Location: 4600 Atlantic Ave, Wildwood
Details: Fans go wild for Bagel Time’s bagel sandwich with egg whites, avocado, and roasted peppers! But other worthwhile highlights on the menu include the chocolate chip bagel, asiago bagel, and the Nova Bowl. You can find Bagel Time at their three locations in Wildwood, Cape May, and Wildwood Crest.
Why I like it: That Nova Bowl we mentioned? It’s a mound of crispy home fries topped with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, scallions, arugula and cream cheese.

Broadway Giant Bagel Company

Location: 2119 Whitesville Road, Toms River
Details: We love how this store is open bright and early. You can stop in to Broadway Giant Bagels Monday through Friday as early as 5:30 am! (Or 6:00 am on Saturday and 7:00 am on Sunday.) The store is known for its “Heart Attack Sandwich” which is no joke; packed with bacon, sausage, pork roll, deli ham, cheese, and egg on a bagel or roll.
Why I like it: The name says it all and does not disappoint, these bagels are giant!
